Nkawzi and Lee’s Summit Rotary Clubs are working together to submit a Global Grant Proposal to fund the delivery of nine shipping containers of medical supplies and equipment for the medical clinics. Project C.U.R.E. will source and ship the needed medical supplies and equipment and the Nkwazi Rotary Club is working with the Ministry of Health for delivery of the goods to the clinics.
Ten medical clinic locations were selected as part of the Rotary Club of Lusaka’s mission for 2023. The Nkwazi Rotary Club and Lee’s Summit Rotary Club have teamed up with Project C.U.R.E., a non-profit that provides shipments of medical supplies and equipment to developing countries. Project C.U.R.E.’s needs assessment conducted in August 2023 found that the clinics in scope had a lack of consumable supplies and working medical equipment across all facilities. Due to the lack of supplies and working equipment, the facilities are unable to meet the needs of all patients and many patients are referred to other facilities. If referred, most patients have to walk long distances to the referral sites, often in an ill or injured state. In recent visits by the Nkwazi Rotary Club, the medical staff at these facililites expressed the dire need for supplies and equipment to be able to properly treat patients in their time of need. The needs assessment found that to provide the ten facilities with the supplies and equipment they need, nine 40-foot container shipments are required.
