In Your Thoughts

Many District 6040 Rotarians became friends with Group Study Exchange (GSE) team leader, Arthur Manser, when he visited our district from Australia.  Sadly his wife, Shirley, passed away suddenly in mid January.  Both Arthur and Shirley were completely vested in Rotary.  Memorials are suggested to be made to the Rotary Foundation which can be made at the rotary.org website which has a donate button at the top right corner of each page.  You can let Arthur know your thoughts, kind words, donations via email at amanser@bigpond.net.au or on his Facebook page titled Arthur Manser.  Please keep Arthur and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

John Montgomery, charter member of the Blue Springs Rotary Club, passed away in late January.  John  was a chamber member of the club when it was founded March 26, 1962.  John served as the third president of the club from 1964-65.  John was an old school Rotarian.  He was a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and had been named the Blue Springs Citizen of the Year.  John embodied Service Above Self.  Through his Rotary life, John touched people locally, nationally, and internationally.  He was at every project the club had.  He sold was a top seller of Rotary newspapers to benefit Rotary Camp at Lake Jacomo, raised thousands of dollars riding in the Missouri MS 150, and so much more.

Merchants' Harvest Days

20th Anniversary of Shoes for Orphan Souls
It is time to kick off the 20th Anniversary of our Shoes for Orphan Souls project in north Missouri.  Informational and PR packets are on the way to club presidents.  With many of our clubs meeting via Zoom, I know that can add unique challenges to our opportunities to “get out” and perform service.  That is why we are extending our efforts into May this year, while encouraging you to plan accordingly in your clubs to be generously generous again this year.
