A Note From The District Governor
It has been exciting to witness the heart for service of some of the Rotarians of the 52 Rotary clubs and 4 Rotaract Clubs across Northern Missouri during the visits to several clubs this month.
We have some great clubs across the district, and this month I had the opportunity to experience the “Will it be fun” 5-Way Test of South Side St. Joseph, the spirited yet light-hearted camaraderie of Blue Springs, the delicious food and high percentage of member engagement of Albany, the “always rise to the occasion” attitude of St. Jospeh East, the traditions of St. Joseph Club #32, the dedication to serving our veterans at the Cameron club, the community service of the Brookfield club, and the vision of thinking bigger of the Andrew County club. I look forward to continuing to hit the road to experience even more of what our great clubs have to offer.
As we engage in our daily, weekly, and monthly Rotary tasks, it’s worth considering… what can we do to bring more people into our Rotary community?
The district has a few programs coming up over the next few months. One of these is the new “Step Up” anti-bullying program. There are more details about this in a separate article, but our goal is to help build the foundation for a more peaceful community. We have the money; we just need a few clubs to serve as partners to make it happen.
We’ve had several club secretaries ask if we can hold a training, and a date for this will be announced soon. This will be held over Zoom and will serve as a refresher on how to use ClubRunner to manage members and club officers, how the district invoices clubs, and more.
If you haven’t yet, please mark your calendars for the District 6040 Foundation Dinner at the Argosy on Saturday, November 9. Clubs have a chance to sponsor tables. There will be a silent auction, and there is a raffle for an all-inclusive to Cabo San Lucas with $1,500 airfare included… we have 184 of the 200 total raffle tickets still remaining for sale currently at
www.rotary6040.org.
Thank you for all you do to serve your local communities and the world.
Erik McGuire, District Governor 2024-2025, Rotary Club of St. Joseph East
