What an extraordinary April it has been for District 6040! As I close the chapter on my club visits β completing every single club across our vibrant district β my heart is full of gratitude and pride for the incredible Rotarians who make up the fabric of this organization. Each visit reminded me why we do what we do: the friendships forged, the service rendered, and the lives changed.
We ended the month on the highest of notes: our District Conference, made all the more special by the 25th Anniversary celebration of Shoes for Orphan Souls. Through extraordinary teamwork, strategic planning, and sheer Rotarian determination, our district collected a breathtaking 29,417 pairs of shoes β a testament to what we can accomplish when we work together.
This newsletter captures the highlights of a month I will never forget. Thank you for being the heart and hands of Rotary.

COMPLETING THE CIRCUIT: CLUB VISITS WRAP-UP
April marked the triumphant conclusion of the District Governor's annual club visit tour. Visiting every club across District 6040 is one of the most meaningful responsibilities of this office β and this year's journey was nothing short of remarkable.
Highlights from the final round of club visits included:
Warmth and fellowship at every table.Every club welcomed us with open arms, sharing their successes, their challenges, and their passion for service.
Innovative community projects.Clubs across the district showcased programs that are making real differences β from youth mentorship initiatives to literacy programs and health fairs.
Membership energy. It was inspiring to see clubs actively growing their ranks and engaging newer members in meaningful ways.
District Pride. The energy and dedication I witnessed at every meeting confirmed that District 6040 is a district on the move.
Completing 100% of club visits is a goal not every District Governor achieves β and the credit goes equally to every club president and member who made themselves available, prepared thoughtful agendas, and showed up with Rotarian spirit.
DISTRICT CONFERENCE 2025: A CELEBRATION TO REMEMBER
Our 2025 District Conference was the crown jewel of an exceptional Rotary year for District 6040. Rotarians from across the district gathered to celebrate fellowship, service, and the enduring power of Rotary's mission.
Conference Highlights:
β’ Inspiring keynote addresses from Rotary leaders and community champions.
β’ Club and individual recognition for outstanding service projects throughout the year.
β’ Fellowship events that brought together Rotarians from all corners of our district.
β’ A special tribute to our Paul Harris Fellows and major donors.
β’ Powerful presentations on Rotary's international impact and local service programs.
But undoubtedly, the emotional and celebratory centerpiece of the entire conference was the grand recognition of our 25th Anniversary Shoes for Orphan Souls effort β and the announcement of our historic collection total.
SHOES FOR ORPHAN SOULS: 25 YEARS OF CHANGING LIVES

29,417 Pairs of Shoes Collected
District 6040 β April 2025
Twenty-five years ago, Shoes for Orphan Souls was founded on a simple but profound belief: that every child deserves to walk with dignity. What began as a modest initiative has grown into one of Rotary's most beloved humanitarian programs β and District 6040 has been proud to be a part of this mission for many of those years.
THE SHOE CARAVAN: A DISTRICT-WIDE EFFORT
This year, we did something truly special. Rather than centralizing the shoe collection at a single location, our team strategically designed and executed a Shoe Caravan route that wound throughout the entire district β ensuring that every club, no matter their size or location, had the opportunity to participate.
How the Caravan Worked:
Strategic Route Planning. The caravan route was carefully mapped to move efficiently through each zone of the district, maximizing participation from every corner of District 6040.
Club Coordination. Each club was assigned a collection window and designated drop point along the route. Club presidents and project chairs worked in close coordination with district leadership.
Community Engagement.Clubs hosted local drives, engaged businesses, schools, and faith communities β multiplying the impact far beyond Rotary membership alone.
Volunteer Power.Hundreds of Rotarians and community volunteers turned out to sort, count, and load shoes β embodying the very spirit of Service Above Self.
The result? A historic 29,417 pairs of shoes β making this District 6040's most successful Shoes for Orphan Souls collection in memory. Each pair represents a child who will walk to school, play, and grow with dignity and protection.
To every club, every member, every volunteer, every donor, and every community partner who contributed to this effort: thank you. You have changed lives β 29,417 pairs at a time.
LOOKING AHEAD
As April gives way to May, we carry the momentum of an extraordinary month into the final stretch of the Rotary year. Club presidents and officers should be preparing for year-end transitions, ensuring a smooth handoff to incoming leadership. Please reach out to district leadership with any questions or support needs.
Stay connected, stay inspired, and as always β keep serving.
Thank you Rotarians for a successful shoe caravan around the District. We were able to capture moments all along the way. Take a few moments to view photos from a successful week.
A tradition for many years, the Summer Leadership Seminars provide an opportunity for Rotarians at all levels to connect with each other, exchange ideas, and plan for the new Rotary year. We will have something for everyone at the Summer Leadership Seminars.
This year at the Summer Leadership Seminars, all attendees will be able to attend three different sessions, giving them the latest updates on recruiting and retaining members, establishing a vibrant public image, and leveraging the power of the Rotary Foundation. Also returning are last yearβs optional social outings the Friday evening before each Saturday seminar.
