Growing Rotary, Celebrating Service, and Looking Ahead to World Cup KC 2026!

Dear District 6040 Rotarians,

March is here, and with it comes renewed energy, new opportunities, and exciting moments ahead for our Rotary family across Central & Northwest Missouri.

It continues to be a privilege to visit your clubs and witness firsthand the passion, creativity, and commitment that define Rotary in District 6040. Thank you for the warm welcomes, meaningful conversations, and inspiring service stories you share at every stop.

🌟 Club Visits: The Heart of District 6040

Each club visit reminds me that Rotary’s strength lies in its people. From impactful local service projects to innovative fundraising ideas and vibrant fellowship, our clubs are thriving because of YOU. I encourage every club to keep sharing your stories—your work deserves to be celebrated across the district and beyond.

📈 Membership Growth: “8-in-8” Starts March 1

Membership is the lifeblood of Rotary, and we are launching an exciting Zone 30/31 Initiative beginning March 1st: 8-in-8.

The challenge is simple:
Invite prospective members and gain 8 new members in 8 weeks.

Imagine the impact if every club embraces this effort. Growth brings:

  • Fresh ideas and new energy
  • Increased service capacity
  • Greater community visibility
  • Stronger long-term sustainability

Let’s be intentional. Who in your community is ready to experience the power of Rotary? Now is the time to ask.

4-Way Test Speech Contest

One of District 6040’s favorite events of the spring is the 4-Way Test Speech Contest. This is a unique way for Rotary Clubs to connect with high school students in their area and give them the opportunity to apply the 4-Way Test to their life. Each year these presentations encourage me and solidify my hope for future generations.

Shoes for Orphan Souls

Shoes Cheerleaders in the Rotary Clubs of District 6040 –

Two months to go!  This is a February 2026 edition of my commitment to encourage you on the 25th day of (nearly) each month, to help keep the Shoes for Orphan Souls project “top-of-mind”.  This is our 25th year anniversary of benefitting orphan and vulnerable children by collecting new shoes – a milestone that makes us proud.  Sorry to have missed my connection with you on January 25.

Remember, the 2025-26 roadmap is as follows.  I have sent reminders of “Larry’s Target” which sets a goal for each of our clubs as we strive to collect 25,000 pairs of shoes.  And we will ask our partner in Dallas, Buckner International, to find a corporate match of another 25,000 pairs of shoes.  To collect 50,000 pairs of shoes in our 25th anniversary year.
