Foundation Dinner

 
Our Foundation Dinner was held on Saturday November 5th at the ELMS hotel in Excelsior Springs. What a great evening. A follow up Email will go out soon with more info on the amount raised and a digital picture gallery from our Photographer. A thank you to all involved and to Linn Mills, our Foundation Chair,  and all the Committee Members that are involved to make an Event like this happen. Thank you to all the Rotarians and Clubs for their donations, raffle and silent auction items,  and sponsorships.
 
Two Missouri dentists and District 6040 Rotarians were honored October 14th by the American Dental Association  for graduating from dental school less than 10 years ago and having made their mark in dentistry. This award honors dentist for their work in science, research and education, practice excellence, philanthropy, leadership and advocacy. Congratulations to Chillicothe Rotarian Dr. Emily Mattingly and Knox County Rotarian Dr. Lisa Bosch for being awarded the 10 under 10 award by the ADA!

Rotary International Convention 2023
A few months ago, I had the pleasure of attending my first Rotary International Convention in Houston. It was amazing! Meeting Rotarians from other part of our country and the world and listening to them share their Rotary experience was one of the most profound things I have encountered in my Rotary journey. Not only did I make new friends and get reacquainted with Rotarians from the Philippines whom I have not seen since my GSE trip back in 2001, but I was able to bring ideas back to our district and share those ideas with Rotarians with specific project priorities. Projects addressing human trafficking, Alzheimer's therapies and better community engagement are now being implemented in our district thanks to International Convention.

Kirksville Club Partners with HyVee to Fight Polio
Hy-Vee Stores in Kirksville sold chocolate chip cookies to help Rotary International efforts to eradicate polio.  The sale ran from October 19-25 and $2 from the purchase of each box of coolies was donated to the Polio Plus Fund and with matching funds available from Rotary District 6040 and the Gates Foundation, each box of cookies sold resulted in $18 for Polio Plus.

World Polio Day
World Polio Day was October 24th. Rotarians and Clubs in District 6040 did fundraising activities including Purple Pinkie Donuts, Cookies and other Donations. Total raised was $13,722.50 and with the District Match,  Rotary International Match and the Gates Foundation Match,  that will be a total donated to Polio Plus of $102,918.75. A big thank you to Lynn  McClure our Polio Chair and Marc Horner for getting the Donuts to our designated locations for Clubs to pick up. Also a big thank you to the Clubs Polio Plus Chairs and Foundation Chairs and all that participated and donated!
