Around The District
A Moment for Peace
In this space each month, I hope District Rotarians will take a moment to think about PeacePerhaps in taking that moment, you will think about Peace differently.  And think differently about what you can do as an individual or a Rotary Club to bring about Peace. When Rotary first designated Peace and Conflict Resolution as an area of focus, I think many of us initially thought about Peace as…. Shoes for Orphan Souls
Greetings to each of you in the Rotary Clubs of District 6040! After another successful year of shoes collection for orphan and vulnerable children, I am honored to again serve as the Shoes Cheerleader for Rotary District 6040.  Thank you. While each year of this service project is great, our 23rd year will be special.  Rotary District 6040 will be joined by District 6060 and District 6080 in this year’s collection, and I am extremely excited about this development. Our District 6040 Governor, Randy Steinman, has encouraged the Rotary Clubs throughout the great state of Missouri to join the Shoes for Orphan Souls efforts.  District 6060 Governor Valerie Sorensen, and District 6080 Governor Jimmy Standfast, are joining Randy to spread the word as we hope to collect 50,000 pairs of shoes across the state of Missouri this year.

Our sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted. As people of action, we can take immediate action. As we come together to recover and rebuild, we need to support each other. We need to Create Hope for Maui.

Project CURE
Project CURE
The Lee's Summit club is the International sponsor club working with the Nkwazi host club in Lusaka Zambia on Global Grant GG2344425. This grant will supply medical supplies and equipment to 23 different clinics in the greater Lusaka area.  These clinics provide medical services including birthing and operating suites, serve as feeders to the regional hospitals in Zambia.

Working with Project CURE; a 501c3 that is the world's largest distributor of donated medical equipment across the globe, this project will work to Improve these facilities which collectively serve well over 1 million Zambians. Our District 6040 Group Study Exchange team had the opportunity to meet with the Nkwazi Rotary club and visit a couple of these clinics on their visit in 2021.

These photos in the link above are from the recent visit to the clinics by Project CURE's assessor which is necessary to ascertain how Project CURE can help the facilities.
