Dear Rotarians of District 6040,

My name is Marc Horner and I have been a member of the Kansas City, Missouri Rotary Club #13 for the last 25 years.  My wife Barbara and I have two wonderful daughters, a fabulous son in law, one granddaughter and two Grand Dogs.  We are lucky to have all of them living close by and my favorite evening consists of everyone being together for dinner.

I am pleased to serve with a District Governor lineup consisting of Past District Governor Julie McCoy, DG Elect Don Gladhart, DG Nominee and fellow Club 13 member David McCaughey and DG Nominee Designate Kent Shelman.

District 6040 has a rich history in Rotary International with three Past Rotary International Presidents as well as hosting two International Conventions.  We are people of action in Northern Missouri.

I look forward to working with my team of Assistant Governors, District officers and Club Presidents to make the 2019-2020 Rotary year one that will be transforming for all of our Rotarians.  We have reasonable goals in both the Rotary citation and District goals to help us grow Rotary in District 6040. Our membership activities are focused on increasing the attractiveness of our clubs to new members as well as working to increase the engagement for our existing Rotarians.  Our “Chinnery Challenge” polio activities are focused on reminding our clubs and our communities that although we are “this close” to ending the scourge of polio worldwide until it is gone forever it threatens to come back to the Americas just like the current measles epidemic.

Rotary International President Mark Maloney has given us a wonderful theme for this Rotary year; Rotary Connects the World.  He challenges us to grow Rotary in numbers and impact this year. Our new strategic plan is in place and supports our Rotary Vision. Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.”

I look forward to working with all of you this Rotary year.
