The first Step Up Class from the District Grant has graduated.  Special thank you goes to Angie Sullivan and Ruth Bowers! One of the teachers shared that she had seen growth within the girls and that they have truly formed a sisterhood.

From Our District Governor

It was great to see so many of the club presidents-elect and presidents-nominee at the Show Me Rotary Leadership Institute (PETS) over the weekend. Our district had over 70 people in attendance to learn about the latest initiatives of Rotary International and district leadership, with a special emphasis on membership, The Rotary Foundation, and public image. District Governor-elect Jodi Sundaram did a great job leading the district sessions, along with the team of volunteers from the various committees.

If you haven’t yet signed up for the District Conference, held 5/30-31 in Kirksville, there’s still time to get the early fee (through 4/15) of $100! We’ll have a packed program, filled with Rotary and fun, as well as the Shoes for Orphan Souls Roll Call and a prime rib dinner on Saturday night. Oh, and don’t forget the performance by Grammy-award winner Rhonda Vincent on 6/1, with all concert ticket sales from those who attend the conference and buy a concert ticket ($35) going to PolioPlus. Registration is live at https://rotary6040.org/events/district-conference-rotary-district-6040/

I had the privilege of visiting 3 Rotary clubs in March. Great things going on out there; keep up the great work… visiting the clubs provides much inspiration and motivation!
The Odessa Rotary Club has a fun and welcoming group. They are active in supporting PolioPlus, have recently completed a nice trail, the Rocky Roots Trail, that goes around the Odessa City Lake, and have a large Interact Club with 90 members.
Tarkio recently completed a grant to provide musical instruments to their high school band. They are having a golf tournament fundraiser coming up on June 3 to fund their service projects.
Unionville has an active club that has done a ton of community and economic development over the years, including restoring the courthouse clocks and adding a nice historical mural downtown. They are currently putting together a global grant to help amputees in Belize.

See everyone in Kirksville!

Interact Clubs Flourish
The District has many Rotary Interact Clubs that are making big impacts.  Interact is a club for young people ages 12-18 who want to join together to tackle the issues in their community that they care most about. Every Interact club carries out two service projects a year: one that helps your school or community and one that promotes international understanding. Service projects are an effective way for you to take action at home and abroad, connect with other young leaders, and get members excited about your club.
