How Will We "Unite for Good" in 2025-2026

As we embark on the 2025–2026 Rotary year, I am filled with anticipation and pride to serve as your District Governor. This year, we embrace the powerful message from Rotary International  Unite for Good – Growing Stronger, Leading Together.
This theme calls upon us to come together in service, collaboration, and impact, reinforcing our shared mission of making the world a better place. It emphasizes the strength of our collective efforts and the profound difference we can make when we unite with purpose.
In our district, we will focus on three essential pillars:
  • Innovation: Embracing new ideas and approaches to meet the evolving needs of our communities.
  • Continuity: Building upon the successes of the past to ensure sustained impact.
  • Partnership: Strengthening collaborations to amplify our service and reach.

As we prepare for the year ahead, my vision rests on three strategic pillars:
🔹 Growing Our Membership
🔹 Creating Engaging Club Experiences
🔹 Making Our District Relevant and Future-Ready
And these aren’t just our district goals—they are perfectly aligned with the Rotary Action Plan, which will guide our journey.

1.Growing Our Membership – Expand Our Reach
To truly unite for good, we need more hands, more voices, more hearts. We will actively welcome new members by highlighting the value of Rotary in today’s world—through storytelling, community impact, and personal connection.
But this isn’t just about numbers—it’s about diversity, inclusivity, and representation. We will create space for people of all ages, backgrounds, and professions to find purpose and belonging in Rotary.

2. Creating Engaging Club Experiences – Enhance Participant Engagement
An engaged Rotarian is an inspired Rotarian. In 2025–2026, we will revitalize the club experience. That means relevant programs, mentorship opportunities, leadership development, and yes—more fun.
We will encourage clubs to explore flexible meeting formats, inter-club collaboration, and service projects that make every member feel seen, heard, and essential.
We will ask every club to think: If I weren’t already a member, would I want to join this club today? And then we’ll work together to make that answer a resounding yes.

3. Making Our District Relevant – Increase Our Ability to Adapt & Increase Our Impact
Our district must be a living, breathing source of support, innovation, and leadership—not just a structure, but a spark.
We'll be investing in better communication, more accessible training, and district-wide projects that matter—to our communities and to our members.
We’ll celebrate innovation, embrace new technology, and showcase how Rotary leads in real-world issues—healthcare, education, the environment, and peacebuilding.
And through it all, we’ll measure success not only by projects completed—but by people empowered.

So Let’s “Unite for Good”
My friends, this is not a one-person mission. This is our journey—together.  Looking forward to Growing Stronger and Leading Together in 2025-2026!

Chillicothe Starts Companion Club
Chillicothe Rotary Club President Angela Poling had a vision to start a companion club during this Rotary year.  She developed a committee to think through the entire process.  Then once plans were made, the board gave the approved to pursue a companion club.  Past Rotary members and prospects were solicited for membership.  Monthly meetings started in September 2024 at a wine bar in Chillicothe.  Rotary members came to the meetings each time to explain what Rotary does and what Rotary is.  Over the course of time, a core group kept coming to the meetings and began planning service projects.

District Service Project Final Report
Rotary District 6040 Conference Service Project Chair, Marilyn Romine, was invited by conference chair Ruth Bowers to conceive, design, and implement a service project for the 2025 conference. After discussions with Ruth and 2024-25 DG Erik McGuire about project
parameters, Marilyn decided on a literacy themed project, primarily aimed at collecting books for distribution to Little Free Libraries (LFLs) throughout D6040. Marilyn spoke with LFL stewards and builders from some of the clubs in the district to gather suggestions for the project. Many ideas were suggested and added to the project outline. The service project committee included members from the Kirksville and Kirksville-Thousand Hills Clubs. Committee members met several times to plan the project.
