In the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, students at Wendell Phillips Elementary School in Kansas City collected non-perishable food items to help families in our area who might be struggling through this holiday season. The children and their families collected over 450 items. Members of the Kansas City Rotary Club Ending Homelessness picked up the food and delivered it to the Fairmount Community Pantry in northwest Independence.

The collaborative nature of this effort is an example of how clubs’ service to the community can seem small but have an enormous  impact on our neighbors’ lives.
