The District has many Rotary Interact Clubs that are making big impacts.  Interact is a club for young people ages 12-18 who want to join together to tackle the issues in their community that they care most about. Every Interact club carries out two service projects a year: one that helps your school or community and one that promotes international understanding. Service projects are an effective way for you to take action at home and abroad, connect with other young leaders, and get members excited about your club.
The Platte County High School and the West Platte School District have Interact Clubs in coordination with their local Rotary Clubs.  They were featured in the Platte County Citizen in late January.  You can read the article by clicking here.

Recently the Odessa Rotary Club and the Odessa R-7 School District recently had 55 members visit schools and child care centers in the community to work with young students and celebrate Read Across America. They visited McQuerry, the Child Care Center, and the Young Learning Academy to celebrate Read Across America Week. OHS students visited various classrooms to read to younger students, engage in fun activities to promote literacy, and provide each child with a free book, funded by money raised through Interact and a generous donation from Odessa Outreach. After spending time with the children, the group returned to OHS to learn more about upcoming improvements at the local reservoir led by Rotary. They then completed several service projects, including building birdhouses, decorating rocks to raise awareness of animal care, and preparing cards for the upcoming staff appreciation week.
