When the challenge was issued to grow our club’s membership by almost 20% for the Rotary year, the Eastern Independence Club accepted it with our usual competitive spirit.

So that’s what we did. Membership Chair Joel Fleetwood kept it top of mind with emails and club announcements.  Most of the community is aware of our Independence Uncorked winefest in September and we’re proud to be the club that hosts that every year. It’s fun to tell our story!
Club Member Jodi Krantz (winner of the coveted jacket for bringing in The Most New Members in a Medium Size club) says “I’ve made it a priority when I meet new people to invite them to our club and it seems to be working.”  Yes, it does Jodi. 
“I felt comfortable as soon as I walked in.” New Member Anne Aubuchon says.  “These are my people.” (We get new members involved right away. Anne is looking for “experience-type” raffle items for Winefest. Email her at aaubuchon@hopehouse.net if you have a donation).
Our club sometimes struggle with retention. All clubs do. But we’ll continue to do what has worked for us. Be welcoming to guests, keep that competitive spirit, and….
