There is a lot going on out there that isn’t always the most positive, but it is refreshing to see the consistent can-do spirit of the Rotarians in each and every club. Rotary remains focused on fighting disease (including polio), promoting peace, providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, saving mothers and children, supporting education, protecting the environment, and growing local economies. Rotarians work to accomplish all of this through the lens of our core values, which are service, fellowship, diversity, leadership, and integrity.
It was an honor to visit 4 clubs across the district during the month of February.
The Trenton Rotary Club is currently working on a district grant with the partner organization Bright Futures to help local kids with resources. They are also very active supporters of The Rotary Foundation and have a great club atmosphere.
Raytown is very passionate about literacy and is working on collecting books to give to local schools, as well as reading to the students. Past District Governor (2016-2017) Kim LeSage is representing our district in April as our delegate to the Rotary Council on Legislation.
Scotland County meets in the renowned Keith’s Café in Memphis, MO that is famous for its steak sandwiches. Their signature projects involve supporting and developing the local senior nutrition center.
Smithville recently completed their annual Boy Scout Merit Badge College and raised nearly $5,000 to support their service projects. They are very active with youth programs.
